Shipping, Duties & Import Taxes — FAQ

If you're ordering from outside the UK, you may notice your checkout shows separate Shipping, Duties, and Taxes lines rather than one combined shipping cost. Here's what each one means.

What is the "Taxes" line?

This is import VAT (or GST) charged by your own country — not UK VAT. Performance Delta is based in the UK and does not charge UK VAT on international orders. When a parcel arrives in your country, your local customs authority would normally charge import VAT before releasing it. We collect this amount for you at checkout instead, so your order clears customs smoothly and you're not asked to pay again on delivery.  This simplifies your parcel's journey and makes you aware up front of the cost before you purchase, with no hidden fees when it lands.

What is the "Duties" line?

This is customs duty charged by your country on imported goods. Many of our products are manufactured in the UK, which qualifies for a reduced or 0% duty rate under trade agreements between the UK and several countries — so this line is often £0.00. Duty rates depend on the specific product and its country of manufacture.

Why collect this at checkout instead of leaving it to the courier?

This approach is sometimes called "DDP" (Delivered Duty Paid). Paying import charges upfront means your parcel clears customs faster, and you won't be contacted by the courier for extra payment before they'll release it for delivery.

Does this affect UK orders?

No — these lines never appear on UK domestic orders. They only apply when shipping internationally, where import VAT and duty are legally required by the destination country, not by us.

Which destinations does this currently apply to?

USA and EU orders. Coverage may expand to more destinations over time — we'll keep this page up to date.
