Upgrade the fuel system in your MX-5 ND / RF with our aluminium fuel tank top hat, designed to replace the factory plastic top section while retaining the original in-tank fuel pump basket.
Developed primarily for engine-swapped, motorsport and custom fuel-system applications, the top hat provides a robust and serviceable solution for installations requiring aftermarket fuel pumps, external fuel pressure regulation and dedicated feed and return lines.
The standard MX-5 ND / RF Skyactiv-G engine uses high-pressure direct injection, so this product is not intended to convert the standard engine to a conventional return-style fuel system. It is ideally suited to engine conversions using conventional port injection, or other applications where the original fuel-system architecture is no longer being retained.
Unlike the NC and RX-8 fuel pump assemblies, the ND / RF uses steel support rods that are pressed directly into the original plastic top hat. To allow the factory fuel pump basket to be retained, our kit includes replacement stainless-steel support rods specifically designed to work with the Performance Delta aluminium top hat.
A properly configured return-style system allows fuel to circulate through the fuel rail and external regulator, providing greater flexibility when specifying fuel pumps, regulators, fuel rails and fuel lines, while helping maintain consistent fuel pressure under sustained high-load and motorsport use.
Manufactured from laser-cut aluminium and finished in our signature Performance Delta green anodising, the top hat is engineered for reliability, serviceability and motorsport use.
