Overview

Rear knuckle / upright spherical bearings (spherical bushes) for the Mazda MX-5 / Miata NC (2005–2015) and RX-8 (2003–2012). They replace the factory rubber bushes where the rear lateral link arms meet the knuckle – bushes that often degrade over time.

CNC machined 7075-T6 aluminium housings with PTFE-lined motorsport spherical bearings remove bush deflection, so your rear alignment stays where you set it under load. Designed for track-focused and race cars, where geometry matters more than NVH (noise, vibration and harshness). Supplied as a set of 2, with stainless steel misalignment spacers.

The housings are pressed into the rear knuckle using a retaining compound such as Loctite 603. Key the mating face first, and use a hydraulic press rather than a vice or bearing installation tool to avoid misalignment and galling.

Spherical bearings or polyurethane bushes – what's the difference?

A polyurethane bush still flexes, and can bind as the arm moves through its travel. A spherical bearing rotates freely without deflecting, so your alignment and geometry stay where you set them under load. The trade-off is more noise and vibration passed into the car.

Can I use them on a road car?

They're designed for track-focused and race cars, where suspension geometry matters more than comfort. On a road car, expect noticeably more noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) than with rubber bushes.
